This is a 90-minute knitting class for beginners led by knitting tutor and knitwear designer Maddie Harvey.
During this session you will learn the basic techniques of knitting – casting on, working garter stitch and casting off.
By the end of the class you will have made a small knitted minibeast or flower brooch. There will be lots of colour options and the projects can be tailored to suit your taste and style. You’ll get a taster of some of the skills and knowledge involved in learning to knit!
There are two options to choose from – the course including knitting wool and embellishments only (£15) or the course plus a pair of wooden knitting needles needed to make your project and take home (£18).
Please note, if you opt for bringing your own knitting needles you will need a set of 8mm, 9mm or 10mm needles for each participant.
Who is this course suitable for?
The course is suitable for beginners aged 8 upwards and requires no previous experience. The course requires a moderate degree of manual dexterity and is unsuitable for under 8s. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Places are limited to ten.
Maddie will be hosting further parent and child sessions later in the year, which will build upon the skills learnt in this initial ‘taster’ session
