This is a full day willow weaving course for beginners led by willow weaver, Rachel Bower.
During this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of willow weaving – how to weave a traditional slath base, how to prepare and attach stakes, how to weave a strong side wale, how to finish with a simple trac-rod border and how to add a simple pegged handle. You will also learn the basics in how to prepare and grade willow and how to use the necessary tools safely.
By the end of the day you will have made a berry basket.
The workshop costs £65 plus materials (see below), and includes lunch and refreshments. We can cater for gluten-free and vegetarian diets.
As well as working with traditional Somerset willows, you will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of colourful willows that have been grown and harvested in Angus.
